August Staycation

At the end of August Josef took a week off so that we could have a family staycation. We went to the Legoland Discovery Center, spent a couple of long, sleepless nights at the Gaylord Texan, went swimming at our gym, slept in, ate out, went to the Museum of Nature and Science, and had a nice time being lazy as a family.

Gaylord Texan

The face on Mason in this last picture pretty much sums up or experience at the resort. While I love the Gaylord Texan (this was our 3rd or 4th stay) it was our first time with the kids and I don't recommend staying here with young children under 6 years. There is not very much for busy little children to stay entertained. Mason was pretty excited about the room and the balcony at first, but as soon as we tried to get him to sleep his opinion took a turn for the worse. The second day we were so desperate for him to take a nap that Josef decided to take him for a drive in the car to get him to fall asleep while Sofia and I hung out at the hotel. We live about 35 minutes away so Josef just decided to head in that general direction. By the time they reached our house Mason was still awake and Josef just put him down for a nap in his own bed. They came back later that day and as soon as they stepped foot in our hotel room, happy little Mason started screeching his displeasure. At any rate Sofia had a great time and we made some memories there, but we were happy to be back in our own beds!
